Provision of food information to consumers: N-and technology helps vending abide by the law

Improved legibility of information, labelling guidelines, requirements of nutrition information for the majority of prepacked process foods are only a few of the directives provided by the EU Regulation No 1169/2011 applied in December 2016.

Since then, the law was updated with a Notice on the provision of information on substances or products causing allergies or intolerances on July 2017 requiring to provide customers with information on the presence of allergens (milk, nuts, eggs, cereals, …) in food, including non pre-packed aliments.

More recently, on November 2017 the Commission adopted a Notice on the application of the principle of quantitative ingredients declaration (QUID)stating that the quantity of ingredients present in food has to be labelled in % of weight when such ingredient appears in the name of the food, is emphasized on the labelling in words, pictures, graphics and is essential to characterize a food and to distinguish it from products with which it might be confused because of its name or appearance.

This regulation is legally binding for the Vending sector as well. For this reason, N-and Group has adapted its technology to help its vending customers to abide by the law in a few steps, while bringing modernization and innovation to vending machines through n-Touch HMIs.

All devices can be provided with our FleXUi and FleXUi Editor, powerful tools allowing you to easily modify your UI adding, removing and customizing items and information according to your needs, effortless. Through Drag and Drop options, text and objects can be placed wherever you wish.

Particularly pertinent for the alignment with the regulation principles is the capability of FlexUI software to exploit complex algorithms which automatically calculate doses of ingredients in blended drinks, such as cappuccino, white coffee, etc…

All changes can be made remotely, without the relocation of technicians on site, keeping efficiency high and costs low.

For an even more valuable user experience, FleXUi gives final users the option of changing the UI language, letting them better understand your offer and related information such as ingredients and allergens, making this option especially useful now that the legislation has been strengthened.
